TNT GEP Humanitarian internships
In September 2010 eight students will travel to development countries to contribute to these countries and its people. This select group of students gets the unique opportunity to
do a TNT internship and work at the United Nation's World Food Programme (WFP), Fleet Forum or North Star Alliance - and to make a positive impact in developing countries in Central America, Africa or Asia.
Interns at WFP experience the complex logistics of providing food in highly volatile and challenging conditions. Interns of the Fleet Forum will be faced with the challenge of working
on a project that should improve environmental impact within a country where impact is most needed. Interns of the North Star Alliance will promote health and wellbeing and fight against HIV by working
for its network of Wellness Centres.
The programme also has a cultural dimension. Local AIESEC students can help you find your way and make sure you will get to know the country and its people.
The duration of the programme will be six months. You will travel to a developing country where the WFP, Fleet Forum or North Star Alliance is currently working. You
will go where the need is greatest and where you can make the best contribution. The participating countries will be limited to those designated UN security. These are countries with a currently stable
and safe environment. This safety restriction is applied to all internships. This year eight students will be selected and travel to their designated countries in pairs.

Selection
The first selection will be based on your application and curriculum vitae. If you pass the first selection round, you will be invited for the national selection days on the 18th and 19th of May in The
Hague. During two subsequent selection rounds your language skills, motivation, and personality will be tested by TNT, WFP and AIESEC recruiters. Note that all selection rounds will be held in English.
Once the participants have been selected their destinations will be announced.
Preparation
Before your departure the organizing committee of TNT GEP will help you prepare yourself. You will participate in TNT's In-house days that are specially organized for the selected GEP participants.
In order to prepare you for your internship, the WFP, together with TNT will provide you with a week full of orientation trainings at the WFP's Headquarters in Rome. After this training in Rome you
will directly fly to your destination, where WFP will give you a short orientation and security briefing.
Reintegration
When you return from this life-changing experience, we will help you reintegrate. Before you go home after your traineeship, all participants will attend a reintegration programme in Rome. After
this also TNT and AIESEC give you the opportunity to share your stories and evaluate your experiences.
Visa and vaccinations
Since you will know by the end of May whether you have been selected, you will have sufficient time to arrange visa and vaccinations. Of course AIESEC will help you by providing accurate information on
how to get your visa and what vaccinations you need before departure.
Costs and accommodation
All international travel costs will be covered. Besides that, you will receive a small monthly allowance to cover most of your daily expenses for housing, food and transportation during your internship.
The WFP office and the Local AIESEC Committee in the country of your assignment will help you to identify suitable accommodation upon your arrival. You will have to pay for the costs of visa, vaccinations
and your own insurance.
